Géza Gorka (1894-1971) was one of the most important Hungarian artists in the first half of the 20th century. His style is unique, incorporating elements of Hungarian and Transylvanian folk art, and he is widely attributed with bringing the "crackle" glaze to Europe. He won many major medals at the World Exhibitions during the 1930's.
This fluid and evocative ceramic sculpture of a lady kneeling is one of his most appealing pieces. Fully signed on the bottom c1930
